Description:
The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for completing assigned engineering projects in accordance with customer specifications or new product development. They will accomplish this by serving as a liaison between suppliers, manufacturing, and customers. This role will have responsibilities related to quality - handling field complaints, working with suppliers, troubleshooting part non-conformances and process issues and working with customers. They will also be handling product (new product development) and process related projects - continuous improvement, product troubleshooting, testing, cost reduction projects.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
-Leads efforts to reduce variation through design improvements
-Develop continuous improvement programs that will allow the overall business to decrease cost through the reduction/elimination of variation
-Test methods to ensure product integrity after design, process, or supplier changes
-Serves as primary contact for customer field complaints/requests
-Drives corrective action and provides customers with written reports
-Follows up with customers to ensure satisfaction
-Owns companywide corrective action process for internal and external product issues
-Monitors system to prevent overdue action requests
-Works with process owners to resolve problems and implement long term solutions with their areas
-Assists suppliers with corrective actions and verify when necessary
-Analyzes manufacturing statistical data, recognizing patterns and trends resulting in proactive product and process improvements
-Provides support by performing capability studies for uncontrolled processes
-Track improvements made and translate into measurable metrics
-Assist in leading weekly Quality Awareness meetings with production employees
-Work with manufacturing and engineering to create systems for measuring, analyzing, improving, and controlling to ensure delivery of quality products and processes
-Identify and lead organization wide lean/continuous improvement initiatives
-Maintain and improve current manufacturing processes and product designs to reduce variation and improve throughput
-Serve as an internal manufacturing process consultant for product groups, management, product development engineering, marketing, and sales
-Develop detailed manufacturing WI’s, SOP’s, and production reporting
-Observe testing methods and ensure adequate FPY, assist in the development and implementation of corrective action or product design improvements where necessary
-Create and maintain mechanism of providing visibility into operating performance
-Work with other departments within the corporation to ensure cost reduction efforts are being addressed, implemented and sustained
-Manages and Leads Engineering Technicians to help achieve department goals
-Leads Quality Related Projects with 80 Customers
-Lead Contact and Point Person for On-Site Customer Audits
Skills & Qualifications:
-Bachelors Degree in Engineering
-Experience working within a manufacturing environment (needs to have troubleshooting and process improvement experience)
-Machining or assembly experience
-Working knowledge of GD&T
-Root cause analysis experience
