    JOB SUMMARY

    The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications, customer, quality, and aerospace standards. The Manufacturing Engineer will recommend and implement improvements to production and transactional processes, methods and controls. They will coordinate manufacturing launches for new or revised products. Priorities for this position include process improvement, problem resolution, project management, and employee training. The Manufacturing Engineer will apply Lean manufacturing methods to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.

    Note: The primary differences between job levels tie to skill level, complexity of the problem solving, and years of experience. Job assignments will be based on experience, job opening and budget availability, and the performance level of the incumbent.

    SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES - Essential Functions (Other duties and projects may be assigned or requested.)

    • Carry out process improvement, problem resolution, project management and employee training
    • Improves manufacturing processes and methods for cost-reduction, quality improvement and efficiency by applying methodologies such as Standardized Work, 5S / Visual Management, Continuous Flow
    • Prepare and present plans for the above and coordinates deployment, including training of team members
    • Perform research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment
    • Analyze and optimize transactional processes, such as production sequencing, material movements/ transactions and inventory control to improve accuracy and efficiency
    • Apply Pull and Kanban methods to reduce inventory and lead time
    • Prepare and maintain detailed layouts of building and equipment
    • Coordinate the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results
    • Monitor project tracking status to ensure projects are completed accurately and timely
    • Represent manufacturing on cross-functional teams
    • Maintain a safe, secure and legal work environment, adhering to all Company policies and procedures
    • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
    • Maintain and protect the confidentiality of the Company’s information and products
    • Perform other duties and projects as assigned or requested

    GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS – Education, Knowledge, and Experience

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering; Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering degree is required

    Experience: Job assignments will be based on experience, job opening and budget availability, and the performance level of the incumbent.

    • Level I: 0-2 years of manufacturing engineering experience
    • Level Il: 2-5 years of manufacturing engineering experience
    • Level IIl: 5 years of experience with at least 1 year leading or mentoring the work of assigned employees.

    Skills:

    • Ability to successfully handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Experience in understanding a variety of aerospace manufacturing processes.
    • Knowledge of related software including CATIA, AUTOCAD, and PLM.

    Other:

    • May be asked to work extended or irregular hours as required.
    • Must show proof of ability to work in the United States.

    SUPERVISION PROVIDED TO THE POSITION

    • Level I: Direction with necessary guidance is provided in terms of tasks and objectives and measured based upon how well objectives have been met. Receives detailed instructions as needed.
    • Level II: Direction is provided in terms of tasks and objectives. Work is reviewed upon completion on how well objectives have been met. Will autonomously work on routine assembly or designs with frequent status updates with supervisor. Will be provided with additional guidance on more complex or non-routine assemblies.
    • Level III: Direction is provided in terms of tasks and objectives. Work is reviewed upon completion on how well objectives have been met. Will work autonomously on any assembly or design with only occasional status updates with supervisor.

    • Level III: May oversee the work of others. Assist in the training and coaching of other team members

    • Level II: Uses judgment to plan, perform and make decisions on design and processes within the limits of established boundaries and requirements

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
    • Bilingual in Spanish or Vietnamese is a plus
