Function & Responsibility
The ideal candidate should be a quick learner who is able to work in a fast-paced environment that produces gas line weldments and Vacuum Products, primarily for the Semi industry. Responsible for performing engineering design for sales orders, new product design and ECR's (engineering change requests) of a complex nature. Engineer produces manufacturing drawings, and manufacturing plan including routers, cut checklist for saw operations and BOMs. Collaborate with internal stakeholders balancing technical, schedule, and cost requirements.
Requirements
Primary Responsibilities:
· Build and update existing router structure for existing customer parts to reflect correct manufacturing steps and costing
· Organize and prioritize all incoming RFQs and router updates for team
· May provide work leadership to lower-level designers and drafters and coordinating assignments.
· Creates assembly and test procedures from 2-D or 3-D product drawings/models
· Performs routine engineering solutions for problems that require simple stress analysis, strength of materials, interchangeability, manufacturing methods and cost reduction.
· Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, design fixtures for manufacturing quality control standards, or product design, materials and parts.
· Integrate photographs of assembly, test steps or drawing images to provide a visual representation of key assembly and/or test steps using Lean Flow methodologies
· Assist with time studies to improve workspace layouts, work cells, and work center facility requirements to optimize productivity
· Communicate with suppliers regarding component design changes ties to yield improvements and their impact on costs and delivery.
· May provide work leadership to lower-level colleague and coordinating assignments.
· May check completed drawings for accuracy and completeness.
· Read and translate drawings, blueprints, and part specifications
· Analyze manufacturing issues, work with Quality department to determine root causes, and implement corrective actions
· Be an active member on/in material review board (MRB), quote meetings, engineering design meetings, etc
· Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering or related field and at least 3 years related experience and/or training in manufacturing engineering; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Also have prior ERP / MRP system knowledge.

60% of the work is performed in an office type environment. 40% of the work is performed by traveling to and from the Production Area. Requires the individual to work at a desk on a computer for an extended period of time with periods of time in which they will have to move around the office for interaction with others. Requires interaction with others via the telephone for extended periods of time.
Requires light physical effort such as stopping and bending, and occasional lifting of lightweight objects (up to 25 pounds). The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate.
