Manufacturing Engineer Manager oversees the development and implementation of manufacturing processes to maintain proper product functionality as well as cost efficiency. Ensures the engineering team and other manufacturing departments work together cohesively. Being a Manufacturing Engineer Manager is responsible for the development of equipment to aid in the manufacturing process. Reviews, evaluates and implements engineering changes and specification requirements. Additionally, Manufacturing Engineer Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Manufacturing Engineer Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Manufacturing Engineer Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. As a world leader in the design and manufacturing industry, Active Dynamics is seeking an eager and enthusiastic Manufacturing Engineer to join our successful Novi team immediately. We are looking for a talented individual with solid professional skills in manufacturing.
What you will be doing:- Implement and maintain procedures relating to efficient manufacturing practices
- Evaluate existing and new manufacturing processes, workflows, facility layouts & equipment, based on quality criteria, such as efficiency and speed, to optimize performance
- Ensure manufacturing processes comply with safety & environmental regulations
- Develop effective automated and non-automated systems
- Test new and existing production procedures through engineering builds
- Organize and manage manufacturing workflows and resources
- Resolve issues and delays in production
- Root-cause corrective actions (customer and internally initiated)
- Manage and conduct employee training for productivity improvement projects and NPI launches
- Identify value-added and non-value-added activities to solve process challenges
- In-depth understanding of lean manufacturing principles
- Establish effective and efficient work sequences
- Drive and create continuous improvement activities
- Solve existing manufacturing problems
- Develops prepare, and/or maintain documentation pertaining to manufacturing processes, systems operation, and other technical processes
- Develops and drive implementation of best practices, routines, and innovative solutions to improve production rates and quality of output. Including, but not limited to:
- scrap reduction
- cycle time reduction
- downtime reduction
- FPY increase
- OEE increase
- Gather and collect data from production lines (PPH, labor, material) to aid in decision making and process improvement effort prioritization
- Support quality initiatives and work with team to develop the necessary poke yokes to improve quality
- Other duties as specified by your Manager
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
- Minimum five years related experience in manufacturing
- Minimum five years of CNC tube bending experience required
- Minimum five years stamping experience preferred
- Ability to collaborate with program managers, manufacturing leads, and functional leads
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent critical thinking skills
- Relevant technological knowledge
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of drawing requirements and bill of materials
