Manufacturing Engineer Manager oversees the development and implementation of manufacturing processes to maintain proper product functionality as well as cost efficiency. Ensures the engineering team and other manufacturing departments work together cohesively. Being a Manufacturing Engineer Manager is responsible for the development of equipment to aid in the manufacturing process. Reviews, evaluates and implements engineering changes and specification requirements. Additionally, Manufacturing Engineer Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Manufacturing Engineer Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Manufacturing Engineer Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. Manufacturing Engineer, Lam Research Corporation, Tualatin, OR. Interface with Manufacturing and Design Engineering in coordinating the release of new products. Review new designs for manufacturability and making recommendations to design engineering on manufacturability improvements, including Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA), Serviceability, Safety, Ergonomics, and Modularity. Troubleshoot mechanical (form, fit, function, pneumatic and vacuum systems, air/gas/fluid delivery) and basic electrical issues (wire routings and connections). Estimate manufacturing cost, determine time standards and make recommendations for fixturing and process requirements of new product lines. Develop, implement, and maintain methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacturing of sub-assemblies and final assemblies. Recommend for outsourcing vs building in house of sub-assemblies. Work with outside suppliers on outsourcing activities. Maintain records and report systems for coordination of manufacturing operations. Work closely with Design Engineering to close issues found during manufacturing of new products. Design and procure manufacturing fixtures. Read and understand electrical schematics and Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID). Support the assembly and testing of complex equipment and modules. Perform Virtual Builds using 3D Computer-aided Design (CAD) models to determine product manufacturability including Bill of Materials (BOM) validation, determining proper build sequence, labor hour estimation, DMFA, tooling, and fixtures assessment. Perform and supervise vacuum leak checking.
40 hrs/week, Mon-Fri, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Must have a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial & Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, plus 2 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role.
Of the required experience, must have 1 year of experience in at least 4 of the following: Lean Manufacturing Design for Manufacture Assembly (DMFA); Computer Aided Design (CAD); Statistical Process Control (SPC); Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA); make vs. buys analysis; and/or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
Of the required experience, must have 1 year of experience in at least 3 of the following: creating graphical build documentation; Concept & design of fixtures; root cause and corrective action investigation; and/or nonconforming material disposition.
Must have at least 1 year of experience in 1 of the following software: SAP; JMP; SQL; Minitab; Epicor; or, Oracle.
