Manufacturing Engineering Manager

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will oversee and optimize manufacturing processes performed by contract manufacturers. In addition, this role will be responsible for supporting and managing a team of manufacturing engineers as well as fostering collaboration with external partners to ensure the highest quality and efficiency in production. 

Please note – this is an on-site position. Relocation assistance is not available.

What you’ll do:

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with external manufacturers and collaborate with suppliers to ensure quality, production schedules, and cost objectives are met. 
• Provide technical guidance and advise on process improvement in automated laser welding electronics assembly, injection molding insert molding, and catheter manufacturing.
• Identify and implement process improvements in cutting-edge areas such as automated laser welding, electronics assembly, injection molding insert molding, and catheter manufacturing. This role is responsible for overseeing continuous improvement initiatives, working to enhance efficiency, cut costs, and elevate product quality.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to drive successful project outcomes. Work closely with Quality Assurance teams to implement and maintain quality control measures. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards in all manufacturing processes.
• Maintain documentation related to manufacturing processes, changes, and improvements. Generate regular reports on key performance indicators and project status.
• Other duties as assigned.

Travel

• Travel up to 25% of the time to visit external contract manufacturers and address on-site manufacturing challenges.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with a focus on medical device manufacturing.
• Proficiency in automated laser welding processes and familiarity with electronics assembly, injection molding insert molding, and catheter manufacturing.
• Strong project management skills with a proven track record of successful project execution.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers.
• Leadership experience managing a team of engineers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a small medical device manufacturing company.
• In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements for medical device manufacturing.
• Certification in Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.

Salary Range:

$157,300 - $190,000

Base pay is one part of your total compensation. The final starting salary offer to the successful candidate will be determined by evaluating several factors, such as education, experience, knowledge, skills, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
