Job Summary:
The position of Business Development Manager is responsible for supporting the Director of Client Engagement at the MAGNET Canton office located at the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce in Canton, Ohio.
The Business Development Manager will collaborate and work jointly with the MAGNET data team, other various internal teams and departments, staff from the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce and other regional chambers, economic development organizations, etc. on projects and initiatives focusing on engagement, business and workforce development, media campaigns, webinars, etc.
The Business Development Manager will research manufacturing companies within the MAGNET NEO footprint that includes Ashland, Belmont, Carroll, Crawford, Erie, Harrison, Holmes, Huron, Jefferson, Lorain, Richland, Stark, Tuscarawas and Wayne counties to build database files and spreadsheets, schedule appointments and follow up with manufacturers as required.
Essential Functions:
- Schedule, follow up and manage client meetings and appointments, via Outlook, for Director of Client Engagement and other consulting staff members by reviewing multiple staff calendars and prioritizing, as necessary.
- Inputs business contacts and client information into company database (Salesforce) and Director of Client Engagement’s Outlook contacts.
- Conducts searches in company database for meeting preparation.
- Prepare and reconcile expense reports and corporate credit card statements.
- Assists with event planning coordination, preparation and facilitation (registration table/booth.)
- Prepare “About MAGNET” PowerPoints for client meetings, economic development groups, chambers, etc.
- Attend, take meeting minutes and distribute.
- Manages office operations to include answering calls, manages and/or redirects inbound calls appropriately; prepares for meetings; and maintains satisfactory office appearance.
- Follow up on appointments, leads and events.
- Manage all business development invoices, submitting all needed documentation to accounting as well as approval requests.
- Keep consistent records of all media, chamber memberships/sponsorships.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education: High School diploma is required. Associate / bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Essential Experience:
- Experience conducting data entry and other administrative and clerical tasks in an office environment is essential.
- Proven experience collaborating with teams to execute simple to complex solutions for internal use is required.
- Experience assisting with event planning and coordination is preferred.
Specific Skills:
- Ability to review and summarize information concisely.
- Exceptional diligence.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in using various databases and the Internet as well as Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Working Conditions:
- Full-time office / hybrid working hours totaling approximately 40 hours per week. Infrequently, early morning or evening hours may be required.
- Travel to MAGNET’s HQ in Cleveland 2-3 times a month and occasional travel to satellite offices and other NEO territories.
