Manufacturing Manager plans, schedules, and manages one or more manufacturing production processes. Incorporates organization-wide operational safety, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and cost control policies and programs into manufacturing processes. Being a Manufacturing Manager monitors production metrics, responds to and resolves problems. Assists with planning and directing an efficient layout of equipment and flow of materials. Additionally, Manufacturing Manager collaborates with leaders to manage and resolve workforce or labor issues and develop solutions. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Manufacturing Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Manufacturing Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Job Description

    Responsibilities
    • Lead/Manage multiple new product projects utilizing a working knowledge of materials, manufacturing techniques and engineering practices.
    • Provide support for plant operations by planning, directing, and coordinating the activities of new product launches to ensure that goals or objectives of projects are met on time and within budget.
    • Serve as a plant liaison to product development teams.
    • Apply manufacturing and statistical methods to estimate manufacturing requirements, potential, and cost of product to be developed.
    • Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards.
    • Analyze manufacturing capabilities, production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
    • Lead DFA & DFM activities with plant personnel, including Quality, Process Engineering, and Tooling & Equipment.
    • Recommend methods for improving products by reducing wasted materials and utilizing reorganization of workflow, relocating workstations and equipment, and purchasing equipment.
    • Provide project management and manufacturing input throughout all phases of the product development process.
    • Lead/manage quality improvements and cost reductions to existing products, utilizing a working knowledge of various materials, manufacturing techniques and engineering practices.
    • Provide direction and leadership to Engineering Technicians through frequent 1:1’s, coaching, performance feedback, and development of Individual Development Plans (IDP’s).

    Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business is required. A degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
    • Minimum of 5 years of related experience to include experience in an engineering environment with significant manufacturing exposure is required.
    • Must be able to interpret BOMs and engineering prints and create routings.
    • Experience in FMEA, DOE, QFD, APQP, and DFMA preferred.
    • Experience in high volume assembly is preferred.
    • Cross-functional product development/program/project management experience a plus. Must be able to function in a team-oriented environment.
    • Experience in 3-D CAD (preferably Creo) preferred.
    • Experience with lean manufacturing and change management a plus.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to deal with all levels of staff, customers, suppliers, and operations
    • Proficient with software programs such as Microsoft Office. SAP experience a plus.
    • Demonstrated success handling multiple priorities in changing environments.
    • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and successfully resolve problems.
    • Ability and willingness for occasional travel to support project objectives.
