    Under the general direction of the Division of Law Enforcement’s (DLE), Office of the Chief Staff Services Manager (SSM) II, the CAS directs and supervises the activities of DLE’s Southern Regional Evidence and Resource Management Unit located in San Diego, Riverside and Commerce. The Evidence and Resource Management Unit is responsible for property and evidence management including the maintenance of chain of custody, proper receipt, identification, and preservation of evidence submissions, appropriate release/transfer of evidence, tracking and records management for the Bureaus of Firearms, Gambling Control and Investigation. The CAS will maintain knowledge of Departmental policies and procedures related to evidence control and direct ongoing training and optimization of the Statewide Evidence and Resource Management Unit.
