Market Research Director is responsible for the market research department. Directs and oversees an organization's marketing policies, objectives, and initiatives. Being a Market Research Director manages a team to review changes to the marketplace and industry and adjusts marketing plan accordingly. Analyzes existing goals and programs and recommends improvements. Additionally, Market Research Director requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a top management. The Market Research Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Market Research Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Position Summary:
    The Associate Director reports to the Senior Director and works within a team-based environment to support the university's strategic initiatives to grow research, scholarship, and creative activities across all disciplines.The Associate Director will be a hands-on research development practitioner working on high-value research development and faculty development efforts and will take a leadership role in building programs, tools, and strategies to grow the University of Idaho's research funding portfolio. This includes the development and implementation of strategic plans to enhance the competitiveness of faculty members' proposals to federal and other sponsor funded programs relevant for the University of Idaho, including large center-level programs.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Bachelors degree
    Experience:
    • Three years of experience working in a Research Development Office including:
      • Securing extramural funding
      • Interacting with funding agency personnel
      • Developing and editing large, complex grant proposals
      • Working with and leading individuals at all levels of an organization
      • Using computer software and applications for word processing, developing spreadsheets, presentations, and internet searches
      • Managing multiple tasks and deadline
      • Analyzing Requests for Proposals and interacting with funding agency personnel






    Preferred Qualifications:
    Education: Masters degree or PhD
    Experience:
    • Five years of experience in a highly functional Research Development Office at a research-intensive university
    • strategic planning using a data-driven approach
    • creating reports from large amounts of institutional or sponsor data
    • preparing and submitting proposals to large complex federal funding sources, (e.g., NSF EPSCoR, NSF STC, DOE ERC, NIH COBRE)
    • using funding databases
    • managing a universitys limited submission process
    • developing and presenting workshops
    • using InfoReady



    Demonstrated Success:
    • with faculty members applying to the NSF CAREER or other early-career funding programs
    • with faculty members applying for NIH R01 support
    Ability:
    • developing and delivering presentations
    Skills
    • detail oriented

    • Ability to travel occasionally for training and proposal development
