Market Research Supervisor supervises activities in the market research department. Ensures appropriate use of analytic techniques to determine demand for products and services. Being a Market Research Supervisor interprets and predicts consumer trends, formulates research and development proposals, and monitors research projects. A level I supervisor is considered a working supervisor with little authority for personnel actions. Additionally, Market Research Supervisor may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Has no authority for staff actions. Generally has a minimum of 2 years experience as an individual contributor.     Responsibilities:

    • Determine purpose and research questions be answered through market research by communicating with client management teams.
    • Develop methodology, create surveys and administer the survey to the sample.
    • Develop project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans, and conferring with management.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field or equivalent experience is required
    • 5 years of experience in Market Research or Data Analytics experience in Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), retail or supplier preferred
    • Intellectually curious, eager to problem solve, and a quick learner
    • Experience moderating a focus group a plus
    • Experience writing and researching for a business or professional audience
    • Strong work ethic and desire to succeed (often with minimal supervision)

    Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

     

    Market Research

    • Determine purpose and research questions to be answered through market research by communicating with client management teams
    • Carry out scope of work to execute research project as approved and outlined in document
    • Collect and analyze secondary data sources to create and/or answer market research and business objectives
    • Develop methodology, create surveys and administer the survey to the sample.
    • Work with sample or staffing company to ensure the survey is administered properly 
    • Provide training to staff to ensure that surveys are distributed and given as instructed
    • Present market research findings in written and/or oral reports to client management teams

     

    Project/Client Management and Support

    • Develop project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans, and  conferring with management
    • Manage project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems
    • Define major business opportunities by prioritizing information to support the goals of our Clients, Customers, and Company
    • Manage, build and maintain ongoing strategic and collaborative relationships and category management activities

    Data Analysis/Interpretation/Application

    • Determine and quantify primary business opportunities and key drivers by analyzing data
    • Support key business opportunities by recommending solutions based on applicable data
    • Define major business opportunities by prioritizing information to support the goals of our Clients, Customers, and Company

     

    Presentation Development/Delivery

    • Creates insight driven presentations with actionable tactics and strategies
    • Develops creative presentations with an eye toward story-telling, focused on flow, visualizations, headlines, and using the Company's Branding Guidelines

     

    Supervisory Responsibilities

     

    Direct Reports- Hires, retains, trains, coaches, guides, directs, and develops direct reports using company-wide processes, tools and resources

     

    Indirect Reports- May delegate work of others and provide guidance, direction and mentoring to indirect reports

     

     

    Travel and/or Driving Requirements

    - Travel is an essential duty and function of this job. Driving is not an essential duty or function of this job.  - Travel up to 15%

     

     

    Minimum Qualifications The following are the minimum job-related qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job

     

    Education Level: (Required) Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience          Field of Study/Area of Experience:  Business or related field or equivalent work experience - 5 years of experience in Market Research or Data Analytics experience in CPG, retail or supplier preferred

     

    Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

    • Intellectually curious, eager to problem solve, and a quick learner
    • Strong command of primary, secondary, and quantitative methodologies and procedures
    • Well-organized and strong attention to detail and accuracy
    • Familiarity with web based survey software. (e.g. Vision Critical, Qualtrics and statistical software programs such as Sawtooth)
    • Experience moderating a focus group a plus.
    • Experience writing and researching for a business or professional audience
    • Demonstrated ability to work with large data sets; appetite for numbers and analytics
    • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team; a hunger for “winning together”
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize business requests
    • Creativity…. with a passion for building visually compelling presentations
    • Good communication – written and oral – skills and strong interpersonal skills
    • Strong work ethic and desire to succeed (often with minimal supervision)
    • Microsoft Office experience: Highly proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint

    Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment.
