Job Summary
Columbus State University is seeking a Communication and Marketing Specialist position in its Office of Strategic Communication Marketing. The selected candidate will leverage their experience to protect and promote the university's brand under the guidance of the director of strategic communication and as part of an integrated communication and marketing team.
Responsibilities
Members of the Strategic Communication Marketing team are responsible for protecting and contributing to the university's brand- and reputation-defining strategies and tactics. The successful candidate will be a communication-focused professional focused on
- writing, editing and reviewing news releases, articles, feature stories and website content
- developing, implementing, managing and evaluating a strategy for university-level social media accounts as the office's primary social media manager
- creating an ongoing content calendar to serve both news-reporting and social media needs
- creating and posting engaging content, as well as monitoring and responding to audience interaction
- collaborating with account managers and content contributors for subaccounts across campus
- contributing to other communication-related projects involving the office's Strategic Marketing team and colleagues in academics, alumni engagement, athletics, campus life, fundraising, and special events
Required Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Public Relations, Communication, Marketing, Journalism , or a related field; and professional and/or extensive internship-level experience in one or more areas of specialty and responsibility. The successful candidate must possess the ability to work in a highly creative, collaborative detailed-oriented environment under tight deadlines, in high-pressure situations, and with colleagues internal and external to the team; and be proficient in writing and editing conventions, and in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include:
- A demonstrated proficiency in photography and video techniques
- Brand consistency and design principles, and experience in the software related to these functions (i.e., Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Creative Cloud suite).
- At least three years of related professional experience in an agency, higher education, or other complementary environment.
Proposed Salary
The salary range for this position is $32,253 - $36,284 and includes full benefits.
