Marketing Communication Director directs, implements, monitors, and evaluates marketing communications strategy and programs, including advertising, branding, product promotion, and regulatory matters. Designs, develops, and distributes consistent themes, messaging and branding throughout all communication touch points. Being a Marketing Communication Director builds cross-functional relationships with organizational stakeholders to understand products, customers, and industry and develop a focused communication program. Oversees efficient processes for the regulatory review and approval of communication materials. Additionally, Marketing Communication Director explores and adopts new channels, methods, and platforms to optimize marketing communications. May oversee planning for trade shows and conferences to showcase products and amplify messaging. Develops budgets and internal and external resources for communication program delivery. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Marketing Communication Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.     Detailed Job Description
    The Marketing Director within the College of Liberal Arts is the strategic lead on positioning the College of Liberal Arts to create unique value and recognition; the tactical lead in coordinating marketing and communications to generate interest and demand; the communicator champion of all things Liberal Arts at RIT; and the marketing lead for RIT's distinctive performing arts enterprise and Performing Arts Scholars program. They are expected to serve in a key leadership role within the college, working effectively with multiple stakeholders inside and outside of the College. Because of the diverse set of responsibilities, the individual must be entrepreneurial, resourceful, and collaborative as they perform the important work of elevating the stature, influence, renown, and market position for the College of Liberal Arts in a national context.

    The position has dual reporting lines to ensure transparency, efficiency, and strategic alignment with Liberal Arts and RIT priorities. Reporting to the Dean within the College of Liberal Arts, and to the Associate Vice President for Marketing Strategy, the individual is the bridge that captures and communicates the distinctive opportunities and strengths in the College of Liberal Arts and works within the college as well as with broader RIT marketing resources in the execution of a range of creative content to advance recruitment, student and alumni success, and faculty recognition. The person will support the Dean in communicating the college's priorities internally and externally. In addition to coordinating and executing marketing and communication priorities, the individual is a key liaison with the enrollment management division.

    Responsibilities:
    Marketing:
    • Design, implement, and continually assess the effectiveness of the College's overall marketing and communications strategy
    • Manage the strategic positioning framework of the College of Liberal Arts and ensure its application to both marketing and recruiting activities.
    • Conceptualize and execute multi-channel campaigns, in partnership with RIT's University Marketing and University Communications, ensuring the alignment of communications and messaging across all traditional and non-traditional channels.Conceptualize and execute environmental marketing programs to inspire and elevate the liberal arts experience at RIT and in a national context.
    • Serve as the champion for RIT Marketing and Communications in CLA by disseminating timely and accurate information that ensures alignment with the university.
    • Represent CLA in key M&C initiatives as necessary.
    • Manage all aspects of marketing (and communications) for the college by leveraging M&C's marketing intelligence, brand know-how, and other services provided by the Division.
    • Manage brand integrity within the College by getting everyone to adopt a consistent and compelling message, look, and feel.Stay up-to-date with various CLA programs, initiatives, and output, as well as keep a pulse on internal and external landscape (including competitive intelligence).
    • Build and manage long-term relationships among CLA faculty, staff, and alumni; provide consultation; gather requirements; assemble, compare, and recommend marketing and communication strategies that meet budgetary and time constraints-all while considering communication objectives, university brand, and strategic goals.
    • Produce scheduled reports on the link between marketing activities and demand.
    Communications:
    • Lead the College's communication efforts across media, platforms, format, and type (written, audio, video).Supervise and manage content on all College of Liberal Arts digital domains.
    • Manage a marketing budget and prioritize spending as necessary.

    Education/Experience:
    • 5-7 years of relevant professional experience in marketing and communications
    • Bachelor's degree, Marketing or related field

    • Must be able to interpret data and synthesize trends.
    • Must have a proven ability to work with a variety of constituents and stakeholders to achieve goals.
    • Ability to work effectively independently and as a contributor to team efforts.
    • Skilled at organizing projects, handling multiple tasks simultaneously, meeting deadlines. Demonstrated success in digital and traditional media.
    • Commitment to quality productions.
    • Maintain a customer-service attitude.
    • Proven ability to take initiative and solve problems.
