Marketing Communication Director directs, implements, monitors, and evaluates marketing communications strategy and programs, including advertising, branding, product promotion, and regulatory matters. This position is responsible for building brand awareness and consideration in our key geo-markets. In partnership with Marketing leadership, internal business units, research, product marketing, marketing technology and external agencies, develop and execute marketing strategies to meet or exceed business goals including, and not limited to, membership growth, deposits, and loans granted. Through the successful marketing and positioning of the Credit Union’s products and services, enhances the quality image among its target markets, communities, targeted consumer segments, members, and employees.   TASKS, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS: Own and shape Influence strategy and work with leadership to own and shape Golden 1's brand strategy including naming, advertising media mix, media spend, and messaging of campaigns. Be Golden 1’s brand steward, ensuring visual and messaging consistency. Acts as a point-of-contact for the marketing strategy with Sacramento Kings management for Golden 1 Center and other athletic and community sponsorships. Leads the internal Creative Services team which includes driving brand health metrics and performance driven copy and value propositions. Manages both internal and external resources focused on content creation, editing, and design. Obtains the voice of the member and consumer utilizing qualitative and quantitative research materials, customer satisfaction survey responses and results from interaction with member-facing personnel.  Foster a positive and engaging work environment by promoting skill development, coaching for improvement and growth, inspiring others through words and actions, ensuring positive employee morale, and embracing Golden 1’s mission, vision, and core values. Manages department operations including development, execution and documentation of efficient, compliant procedures, productivity measurement and improvement, and service level agreements for internal clients.  Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance. Effectively manage relationships across multiple agency/creative partners and cross-functional teams. Direct, train, supervise, and evaluate creative services staff. Assist the Chief Marketing Officer as assigned. Develop and maintain an understanding of the pertinent regulatory requirements and risks inherent to job responsibilities, establish, and maintain control activities that mitigate those risks consistent with the Credit Union’s risk appetite, and ensure operational integrity and compliance with applicable regulations. PHYSICAL SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXERTION UTILIZED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THESE TASKS: Prolonged sitting throughout the workday. Effective oral and written communication required to accomplish tasks. Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate an online computer terminal and other standard office equipment, including 10-key, personal computer, facsimile machine and telephone. Unusually long work hours may be required on occasion to accomplish tasks. ORGANIZATIONAL CONTACTS & RELATIONSHIPS: INTERNAL:  Leadership, business units within the organization, staff/team reports EXTERNAL:  Print/broadcast media, vendors, community organizations, members, and prospective members. QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or related field.  MBA a plus. EXPERIENCE:  Ten years or more experience leading creative services. Experience in financial services or another regulated industry a plus. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Knowledge regarding laws, rules, regulations and procedures impacting credit union advertising and marketing activities. Demonstrated financial marketing performance with knowledge of social media, online communications, traditional and digital media, and research. Exceptional oral and written communication skills. Exceptional critical thinking and analytical abilities. Political, popular culture, social media experience and traditional media awareness. Financial services experience preferred. Breadth and depth of marketing knowledge across various media; promotional campaign planning; and adherence/adoption AP Style Guide. Strong management and supervisory skills.  Strong interpersonal, organization and management skills. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Occasional mobility throughout the workday to attend meetings and manage staff and perform other functions. Prolonged sitting throughout the workday. Corrected hearing within normal range required to accomplish tasks.  A telephone device to enhance hearing will be provided if needed.
