POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of leading community organizations committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Marketing and Communications Associate position intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined and builds the community’s understanding of our cause and impact through development and implementation of effective marketing and communications strategies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Develops annual operating goals, objectives and plan for the marketing and communications area. Monitors the achievement of this plan, taking appropriate action to ensure that the goals and objectives are met. Manages marketing budget.
2. Develops, produces and distributes program information necessary to promote assigned programs, in accordance with membership and marketing plans.
3. Establishes contacts with media representatives and writes and submits press releases when appropriate. Maintains updated files of media relations (both press and electronic).
4. Identifies and builds relationships with internal and/or external partners or key stakeholders, such as service groups, community organizations or companies, to support programs or projects.
5. Assists with assigned aspects of the fundraising campaign. Provides and maintains related statistics and reports.
6. Plans and coordinate special events to model the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
7. Communicating with the Program Directors is key.
8. Helps find Volunteers, Employees and Coaches.
9. Completes Volunteer and Employee Packets.
10. Helps Sports director prepare for youth and adult sports and helps with staffing/supervising sites.
11. Communicates with coaches, parents and participants to improve their experience.
12. Covers other YMCA and MRC positions as needed when short staffed.
13. Makes everyone feel welcome and appreciated. Has a positive attitude with people of all abilities. Models the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
14. Knows all emergency procedures and location of emergency equipment.
15. Attends all required staff trainings and staff meetings.
16. Maintains a clean and professional environment.
17. Media including but not limited to - School Year and Summer Program Guides. Monthly Newsletter, TV Slides, Flyers, Facebook, Website, and back hallway bulletin board. Advertising-USD 418 School Calendar, Welcome Home Ad, School Flyers, etc.
18. Other duties as assigned by the program directors and CEO/Superintendent.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School diploma required. College Degree preferred.
2. Graphic design skills and general knowledge of Microsoft Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, Excel, and Website Management is preferred.
3. Minimum age requirement 21.
4. Within 30 days of hire completion of: CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.
5. Must have strong interpersonal, public relations and communications skills, including the ability to make presentations and handle media inquiries.
