POSITION TITLE: Marketing Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Marketing Manager

OBJECTIVE: The Marketing Coordinator is responsible for
developing concepts for and preparing materials for marketing and customer engagement. This individual assists with identifying design needs of the company to elevate the quality of marketing materials and branding. This individual will also be responsible for managing the digital marketing projects which include CRM and email marketing, social media strategy execution, and website updates. This individual establishes and builds good customer relations by creating engaging materials to support the generation of sales for the Retail Garden Center and Landscape design/installation operations. This individual plans the logistics for Marketing events that happen at the nursery throughout the year.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Manages the creative execution of web, digital, print, in-store signage and other visual communication needs of the company.

Promotes, and develops as needed, the use of brand style guides so all communications and websites present a uniform look and message. Works with the buying team and merchandisers to create a cohesive marketing and branding and customer communications strategy

Develops and implements digital marketing projects including website content and improvements, CRM/email marketing campaigns, and social media. Creates social posts, including images and captions, to promote relevant inventory and further the Southwood brand.

Plans and manages the details and promotional materials for the events marketing schedule.

Maintains Southwood’s photo library for products, facility, landscape design projects and events/function pictures. Takes or reviews quality of photographs required for plant signage, company promotions, social media and the website.

Is responsible for the design and editing of video projects from concept through completion.

Completes special projects and performs other duties as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in marketing, graphic design or directly related field from an accredited college or university is required.

Ability and willingness to work weekends during peak season is required.

Must supply an online portfolio to demonstrate design ability for web, digital media, marketing promotions and graphic design. Please showcase photography skills, if possible. Candidate’s portfolio must demonstrate a good eye for color, composition, and creativity. Please include the URL in a resume or cover letter.

3-5 years of experience in a related field, preferably horticulture related, is required.

3-5 years of experience and a comfort level working within the digital marketing arena is required.

3-5 years professional experience with Adobe Creative Suite (including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat), and Microsoft Office Suite (including Access) is required.

Ability to create and execute multiple projects at the same time and turn designs around within a small window of time with minimal errors is required.

Strong communication, grammar, organizational skills and attention to detail is required.

Knowledge of social media design strategy, content trends and best practices is required.

Plant knowledge – or an interest in gardening – preferred.

Photography skills are strongly preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Loads and unloads occasionally; must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.

Work environment is primarily indoors in an office setting. Some exposure to weather conditions of varying temperature and precipitation.

Schedule will generally be Monday through Friday but may shift to include weekends during peak season.
