    Veterans Community Project (VCP) Overview  

    Founded in 2016 in Kansas City, MO, VCP is dedicated to supporting every man and woman who took the oath to defend our nation. The greatest barrier to ending Veteran homelessness is the revolving door of unstable housing and the frustrating maze Veterans must navigate in order to get basic support. We believe that to be an effective program, the first step is to connect Veterans and the community. VCP created an innovative homeless housing program and outreach assistance that provides inclusive services to aid Veterans in re-claiming control over their lives.

    Position Summary 

    The National Director of Marketing is responsible for successfully planning and implementing strategic marketing plans aimed at prospective supporters of VCP across multiple mediums including social media, educational programs, our website, and other platforms as needed. This will require strategic ability to build and develop relationships within the organization and through community partnerships. The goals are centered on increasing donors, volunteers, and advocates through proactive marketing and fundraising campaigns and activities. The National Director of Marketing will also lead the creative direction of our annual fundraising event. Requires strong communication, collaboration with fundraising, relationship-building skills, exceptional organizational and project management skills, and a high degree of creative thinking and understanding of the ever-changing field of digital marketing. This role will have leadership and influence across the organization, providing national & local guidance of writing, social media content, video production, and ad campaigns, as a key decision maker establishing and maintaining VCP’s brand equity.  

     Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

    • Sets the tone and VCP’s brand identity and agency voice across all communications.
    • Acts as a coach for others in the organization as they execute social media content, signage, video production, and copy writing or other special projects. 
    • Works with VCP leadership to build and manage a Marketing Team to fulfill the needs of an expanding and dynamic organization.  
    • Strategize and implement marketing and ad campaigns (traditional & digital, including video production and print materials) with the objective of converting prospective donors, volunteers, community partners, and advocates.  
    • Collaborate with the development department to support and execute fundraising strategies. 
    • Manage VCP’s social media blueprint, monitoring social media trends, including developments in design, applications, strategy and innovation to stay relevant and effective. 
    • Create comprehensive marketing plans to boost brand image, increase stakeholder engagement and improve conversions. 
    • Oversee agency wide media relations strategies, PR, and web marketing to engage and attract supporters in regional areas/cities identified for expansion. 
    • Execute website overhaul and ongoing review of website experience and continuity with input from key leaders and contributors within the organization. 
    • Leads creative and programmatic direction of the annual signature event, The House Party. 
    • Must be available to work nights and weekends as needed.  
    • Be able to share the VCP story and Mission Statement.  

    Competencies and Areas of Expertise Include: 

    • Passion for the mission of VCP.  
    • Minimum 10 years progressively responsible related experience; or any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Work experience preferably in non-profit environment.  
    • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Create Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator). 
    • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro or comparable video software editing tool. 
    • Advanced knowledge of technical computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).  
    • Exceptional creativity skills, dependability, and a commitment to influencing the future of VCP through strong relationships, drive, and continuous improvement . 
    • Commitment to maintain confidentiality of information, records, and materials. 
    • Self-motivated to set, attain, and surpass goals, acting as a role model leader across the organization. 
    • Self-management and assurance; assesses own skills and abilities and identifies areas for improvement; willingly accepts constructive feedback; seeks developmental opportunities; works independently.

    • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external constituents.
