The Cumberland River Quarry in Salem, Kentucky is currently recruiting for a Barge Loader.
Barge Loader - Classification Description:
-
Work in adverse conditions in a safe and productive manner.
- Spot and recognize unsafe conditions on vessel and barges.

Correct hazards, if not able to correct on his own report to supervisor for proper course of action.
- Ensure to report any slip, trip, fall scratch or any other injury to pilot or supervisor so incident can be recorded and appropriate action can be taken.
- Assist with routine maintenance on the dock

Report any fluids that enter the river

Operate small equipment (skid steer, back hoe)

Operate excavator for leveling barges and reclaiming
-
To keep tools and equipment stowed in an orderly faction.

Keep walkway and travel ways clear of lines, tools and debris.
- Communicate well with pilot, deckhands, truck drivers, and other vessels in fleet.

Load barges at all docks
-
Load barges to correct drafts.
-
Load barges with minimal spillage.
-
Good knowledge of river safety.

Change cables and put eyes in cable.
-
Knowledge of product size to assure quality of product going on barge

Deck on switch boat when needed
-
Recognize barges that may be potential problems while loading

Draft barges and fill out barge tickets for billing
-
Operate Rescue Skiff.
Basic Requirements:

Do you have the ability and desire to work 12-hour shifts?

Do you have the willingness and flexibility to work weekend or overtime as needed?

Do you have the ability to do manual labor including lifting items as heavy as 50 pounds?

Do you have the ability and desire to work during inclement conditions including extreme heat and cold?

Do you have the ability to climb ladders, stairs, and preform repetitive bending and stooping when required?
- Do you possess excellent communication skills and work well with all personnel at the Quarry?

Are you motivated and a self-starter?

Are you willing to work night shift?

Interested employees must be in current classification for 12 months before applying
