Summary/Objective:
- Field/Laboratory Quality Manager position that ensures that high quality concrete that meets all specifications is delivered to commercial and residential construction customers.
Essential Functions:

- Review concrete mix designs.
- Conduct research and development on new products and admixtures
- Accurately run field or lab trial batches and other various quality control tests
- Test concrete specimens in laboratory and field
- Conduct employee training
- Monitor plant operations, materials, and performance.
- Accurate data entry
- Manage QC Team Members
- Recommend strategies to management.
Competencies:
- Computer Skills: Basic computer knowledge including knowledge of email, MS Word, Excel, and internet applications.
- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, or comparable publications. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Ability to utilize mathematical concepts to compute rate, ratio, percent, discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, volume, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve new or existing problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Other Required Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office software; strong organizational and time management skills; must be able to maintain confidential information.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position supervises Quality Control Field Technician
Work Environment:
The incumbent is occasionally required to work near moving mechanical parts and in outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, walk, talk, hear and occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday. Occasional early morning, evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel:
Some travel is required.
- Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- 5 years of Ready-Mix Industry experience
- ACI Level I and NRMCA Level II preferred
- Command Alkon suite of products
