Materials Control Manager manages daily operations and planning to optimize the flow of raw materials, supplies, and equipment from initial procurement to the final disposition and fulfill material requirements for volume, cost, and scheduling business operations. Uses material requirement plans to ensure the required flow of materials is maintained. Being a Materials Control Manager coordinates procurement, warehouse, and distribution operations to improve operational efficiencies and workflows crucial to the flow of materials. Monitors operations and troubleshoots and resolves operational roadblocks. Additionally, Materials Control Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Materials Control Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Materials Control Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Wage:

    Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

    • Safely and efficiently collect samples for testing.
    • Set-up, operate and maintain nuclear density gauges for asphalt and soils compaction.
    • Have a working knowledge of state DOT and governing agency job specifications.
    • Ability to perform project test procedures relative to individual levels of certification in testing construction materials.
    • Perform sampling, testing, and reporting procedures according to established protocol, having the ability to test construction material samples and recording test results in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Promptly report non-compliant tests to project superintendent when applicable.
    • Maintain daily record of test results, prepare daily reports, and submit results to project lead technician or main lab supervisor.
    • Perform asphalt coring operations for density and investigation as necessary.
    • Perform daily housekeeping operations and maintain a clean lab environment.
    • Properly follow all company policies and MSHA & OSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environmental best practices. Report any problems to the Foreman, Superintendent, Safety Manager, or Human Resources Manager.
    • Perform job tasks in accordance with industry best practices and requirements of the equipment (lifting, carrying, sitting, walking, and climbing).
    • Travel to and from various locations.
    • Routinely assist other members of the work force in different areas of production.
    • Take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions.
    • Other tasks and duties as assigned to meet business needs.
    • Regular and timely attendance.
    • Participate in and promote an inclusive work environment.


    Qualifications

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.


    Education/Experience

    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
    • Prior QC experience preferred.


    Knowledge/Skill Requirements

    • Valid driver’s license required.


    Work Requirements

    • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute, rate, ration, percent, land to draw and interpret bar graphs.
    • Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instruction.
    • Ability to work well with others in a group or one on one setting.
    • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to type and use keyboards accurately and have knowledge of Database software.
    • Must pass physical exam and pre-employment-controlled substance testing.
