Materials Control Manager manages daily operations and planning to optimize the flow of raw materials, supplies, and equipment from initial procurement to the final disposition and fulfill material requirements for volume, cost, and scheduling business operations. Uses material requirement plans to ensure the required flow of materials is maintained. Being a Materials Control Manager coordinates procurement, warehouse, and distribution operations to improve operational efficiencies and workflows crucial to the flow of materials. Monitors operations and troubleshoots and resolves operational roadblocks. Additionally, Materials Control Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Materials Control Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions.     Job Summary:

    We have a unique opportunity for a talented Materials Manager to be based in Middletown, CT. The Compression Systems Module Center (CSMC) organization has an open position responsible for driving our Temporary Vendor Assist (TVA) execution to meet customer requirements across our organization. Your responsibilities include managing TVA vendors and ensuring deliveries support both our production schedule as well as customer need. The successful candidate will ensure material is released to vendors on time and hold the vendors accountable to delivery requirements. Additional responsibilities include vendor relationship management, logistics management, and inventory management.

    Success will be measured by developing strategies and executing goals with the business units/departments and objectives to meet on time delivery, inventory controls, and control tower measures. The individual will have the opportunity to work directly with CSMC administration, materials, operations and 3PL organizations as well as the internal manufacturing groups to redefine processes, execute on business requirements and deliver to customer expectations.

    Responsibilities:

    • Communicate daily between vendors and internal stakeholders the incoming and outgoing TVA
    • Hold vendors accountable to the CSMC delivery requirements
    • Review and maintain vendor production schedule
    • Plan, schedule, and expedite the movement of TVA parts
    • Prioritize work performed at vendors
    • Review current vendors and analyze if they meet current company needs
    • Research and establish relationships with new vendors when necessary
    • Organize and track all documentation between the company and vendors
    • Understand and track supplier execution to all contractual agreements

    Basic Qualifications:

    • BS/BA degree with 7 years of experience required.
    • U.S. Citizenship is required due to government contracts.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Degree in a technical discipline such as Industrial Engineering or Operations Management preferred.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, problem solving, analytical, prioritization and multi-tasking skills
    • Advanced knowledge of materials management strategies, lean manufacturing system design and shop floor management execution
    • Advanced knowledge of continuous improvement principles (e.g. lean manufacturing, ACE, QCPC)
    • Proven ability to motivate teams to obtain high levels of performance and to accomplish goals Highly motivated individual who enjoys operating in a dynamic environment and who enjoys the challenges of process improvement and “lean” manufacturing initiatives.
    • Success working in a high energy and dynamic manufacturing environment with the ability to adapt to changing business conditions.
    • Aerospace industry preferred

    Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

    The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

    Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

    Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
