Materials Control Manager manages daily operations and planning to optimize the flow of raw materials, supplies, and equipment from initial procurement to the final disposition and fulfill material requirements for volume, cost, and scheduling business operations. Uses material requirement plans to ensure the required flow of materials is maintained. Being a Materials Control Manager coordinates procurement, warehouse, and distribution operations to improve operational efficiencies and workflows crucial to the flow of materials. Monitors operations and troubleshoots and resolves operational roadblocks. Additionally, Materials Control Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Materials Control Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Materials Control Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Summary
    The Materials Manager will oversee the planning, procurement, storage, control, and distribution of materials and products according to company needs and customer requirements.
    Responsibilities
    • Review, prioritize, schedule, and expedite the delivery of material components.
    • Maintain strong supplier relationships to improve delivery, quality, and service of suppliers.
    • Manage MRP-relevant item master data such as lead time, ROP, and ROQ.
    • Performs analysis of customer demand, historical records, and interaction with sales force to establish stock plans and develop material plan for long lead time components.
    • Support compiling data, reporting, and analysis to improve business processes.
    • Assists warehouse team on cycle counting and inventory accuracy.
    • Develop and implement inventory reduction projects.
    • Work with Quality to resolve any vendor related quality problems, resolving the immediate issue, and implementing procedures to eliminate repeat occurrences.
    • Acts relative to stocking and purchasing activity on New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives.
    • Partners with the strategic sourcing team to support cost reduction and risk mitigation initiatives.
    Education and Experience
    To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:
    • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or equivalent degree
    • Experience:
    • At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing, operations, or materials management position with an understanding of production and inventory control techniques and systems.
    • Experience using ERP systems and applications in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
    • Must have experience with Microsoft office applications, specifically in Excel.
    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong systems/process orientation with analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
    • Must have a sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and coworkers.
    • Excellent project management and follow-up skills.
