Materials Director directs operations and planning to optimize the flow of raw materials, supplies, and equipment from initial procurement to the final disposition and fulfill material requirements for volume, cost, and scheduling business operations. Estimates material requirements using data and analysis of orders, inventory levels, economic trends, and supplier sources to develop long-range plans to ensure the required flow of materials. Being a Materials Director coordinates procurement, warehouse, and distribution operations to improve operational efficiencies and workflows crucial to the flow of materials. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Materials Director typically reports to a director. The Materials Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Materials Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Key Responsibilities:
- Management of all material inventories
- Possess positive attitude in servicing the local customer base
- Accountable for product quality
- Perform basic facility maintenance
- Provide leadership to drivers assigned to the location
- Monitor employee processes and behaviors to ensure that safe practices are incorporated in all daily activities
- Inspect and make necessary corrections to unsafe conditions that occur at the facility
- Implement preventative maintenance actions that promote a safe work environment
- Review and assess safety concerns in pre and post trip inspection reports
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards in and around the plant as well as fleet operations are compliant with DOT standards
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to safety policies in all work environments
- Demonstrate strong communication skills with the ability to engage with, and positively motivate delivery and plant teams on a daily basis
- Accurate processing of customer orders, provide appropriate product advice
- Responsible for batching ready mix concrete propertly , ensure the product is loaded properly.
- Minimum of (2) years operation related experience and minimum of (1) year supervisory or management experience preferred.
- High School diploma, or G.E.D is required
- Good working knowledge of Command Series
- Strong and effective communicator with ability to support management of implementing and adapting to change
- Excellent leadership skills with ability to lead and motivate others.
- Computer skills in G-Suite and Microsoft Office.
- Spanish speaking or bilingual a plus
