Opportunity

Performs assignments of a complicated nature. Leads engineering subtasks involving the design, fabrication / manufacture, and verification of systems, processes, equipment and/or facilities to optimize warehouse space utilization and minimize material handling.  The scope of tasks can involve mechanical systems (racking, part presentation, area layout, etc.) and electronic systems (WM configuration, MRP system optimization, part picking algorithms, etc.).

Specific Responsibilities

• Prepare detail project plans, including statements of technical objectives and approaches, task breakdowns, schedules, project cost estimates and product cost analyses, submit for approval.
• Direct and coordinate all work on assigned projects by engineers, support personnel and outside groups involving design, development, drafting, sample construction and delivery, test and evaluation, and release for production.
• Personally carry out in-depth design and development engineering work of advanced or pioneering nature involving complex analytic and/or experimental techniques at a professional engineering level.
• Work with the Kohler IT team and consultants to develop new SAP WM or EWM functionality or diagnose SAP related issues and work to implement improvements.
• Lead testing for all SAP and related physical process enhancements.
• Function as the first line of support for solving waves creation failure, Planned Shipping Handling Unit failure, missing warehouse tasks, warehouse order issues with SAP.
• Counsel and train less senior engineers and technical support personnel in technical areas as required or requested.  This may include functioning as a direct manager for personnel.
• Maintain project records; prepare technical, cost and other reports as requested to show progress and results achieved.
• Contribute sound professional advice and creative new ideas, concepts and approaches relative to new design and development projects.
• Participate in strategic planning for the Warehouse Operations department.
• Keep abreast and well informed of state-of-the-art and important events in areas relevant to engine design and development through publications, outside contacts, meetings, shows, seminars, and short courses.
• Work to develop individual goals/objectives to support the department goals using the Maximizing Performance Appraisal Process.
• Personally demonstrate and drive the Kohler Core Competencies.
