Materials Handling Supervisor supervises and coordinates the work of employees who load and unload material within a warehouse or storage facility. Processes orders from requisitions and dispenses items from stock. Being a Materials Handling Supervisor oversees the utilization of hand trucks, forklifts, hoists, conveyors, or other handling equipment to move material to and from aircraft, trucks or trains and within the storage facility. Prepares work schedules, assigns work, and oversees the work product. Additionally, Materials Handling Supervisor ensures procedures are according to specifications and that resources are used effectively and work schedules and targets are met. May assist in inventory of stock and stock rotation. Enters information into a computerized system to maintain up-to-date stock records, retrieve stored data, or respond to inquiries about inventory levels or delivery schedules. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Materials Handling Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. Thorough knowledge of functional area under supervision. The Materials Supervisor for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible for the site procurement and warehouse operations. This position is part of the Reagents Manufacturing Operations Team located in the Hialeah facility and will be on-site. You will be a part of the Materials Department and report to the Materials Manager responsible for supervising and developing materials associates (warehouse and procurement) across different commodities and manufacturing lines. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Lead the procurement (direct and in-direct), and warehouse (receiving, shipping, material handlers) by developing high-performance teams
Drive Inventory/Cost Savings using Danaher Material System Tools and Best practices.
Monitor and improve site warehouse and procurement processes to support delivery to customers.
Identify, implement, and monitor key performance indicators.
Work cross functionally with internal departments and suppliers to ensure materials continuity, drive improvement, and lead other initiatives.
Benchmark and incorporate best practices from other Danaher locations in order to drive continuous improvement.
The essential requirements of the job include:
Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Operations Management, Supply Chain, or Engineering, with 5 years’ experience in Sourcing, Purchasing, or Supplier Relationship Management
Proven leadership preferably of a cross functional supply chain team
Solid understanding of supply chain management principles, supply and demand forecasting, inventory management, supplier relationship management and continuous improvement.
Experience communicating needs to internal and external customers related to quality, total cost, delivery, and compliance.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel and ERP systems.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Demonstrated knowledge of how to effectively operate in a regulated environment (FDA, GMED, NCIS etc.)
Knowledge of lean six sigma and of procurement “best practices” including, but not limited to Supplier PULL Systems, Vendor Manage Inventory, Lean Daily Management, and lean improvement events
Experience leading team of direct reports
