Materials Handling Supervisor supervises and coordinates the work of employees who load and unload material within a warehouse or storage facility. Processes orders from requisitions and dispenses items from stock. Being a Materials Handling Supervisor oversees the utilization of hand trucks, forklifts, hoists, conveyors, or other handling equipment to move material to and from aircraft, trucks or trains and within the storage facility. Prepares work schedules, assigns work, and oversees the work product. Additionally, Materials Handling Supervisor ensures procedures are according to specifications and that resources are used effectively and work schedules and targets are met. May assist in inventory of stock and stock rotation. Enters information into a computerized system to maintain up-to-date stock records, retrieve stored data, or respond to inquiries about inventory levels or delivery schedules. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. In this role you will be required to evaluate and provide technical recommendations on projects requiring engineering review in the Material Services organization, across various processes and commodities. This includes, but is not limited to; Material Advance Release, Supply Support/Onboard Repair Part, ER’s, CR/CN’s, Vendor Information Requests (VIR’s), Specification Histories, DL/DR, Part Modifications and Ship Alterations.
This role will function as a project engineer, overseeing various aspects of Material Services tasks including; establishing and enforcing catalog and part requirements, assurance of first time technical quality, resolution of issues requiring engineering review, working in a team environment and interfacing with design and engineering organizations.
This position will require participation in the development of training materials. Additionally, the incumbent must assist in reviewing and development of processes and procedures, as needed.
Responsibilities include writing and maintaining Electric Boat Specifications as well as actively participating in Part Standardization and Fit/Form/Function process requirements and enforcement.
This position will require the participation in the development of training materials and the support in special projects that involve Material Services, which includes, but is not limited to; Make/Buy, Material Advance Release, IPDE project participation and Reuse efforts. Additionally, the assistance of reviewing and developing processes and procedures and standard practices is expected.
Selected candidates will be expected to effectively communicate within all areas of the Material Services organization as well as with upstream and downstream customers such as; Design, Engineering, Program Office, Planning, Quality and Material Acquisition and the Customer.
Taking on the role of being a mentor to others in the organization is required.
