Materials Handling Supervisor supervises and coordinates the work of employees who load and unload material within a warehouse or storage facility. Processes orders from requisitions and dispenses items from stock. Being a Materials Handling Supervisor oversees the utilization of hand trucks, forklifts, hoists, conveyors, or other handling equipment to move material to and from aircraft, trucks or trains and within the storage facility. Prepares work schedules, assigns work, and oversees the work product. Additionally, Materials Handling Supervisor ensures procedures are according to specifications and that resources are used effectively and work schedules and targets are met. May assist in inventory of stock and stock rotation. Enters information into a computerized system to maintain up-to-date stock records, retrieve stored data, or respond to inquiries about inventory levels or delivery schedules. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Maintenance of Traffic Supervisor supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in flagging traffic and directing motorists through construction workzones based on the specific demands of the traffic control plan for the job. May perform other related traffic control duties.
Job requires the following motions: bending, hammering, stooping, pushing, pulling, squatting, throwing. Requires lifting of weight up to 25 pounds. Walking and standing occupy most of the work day.
Uses tools such as hand shovel, axe, brush hook, grade rod, sledge hammer, pick, mattock, post hole diggers.
Will be exposed to extremes of hot or cold weather.
Requires riding to and from job sites.
Overtime required.
Must possess State of Florida Advanced Training for Worksite Traffic Supervisor certification and at least 1-3 years of experience as an MOT (Maintenance of Traffic) Supervisor/Foreman in highway construction.
