Materials Management Supervisor supervises daily operations and planning to optimize the flow of raw materials, supplies, and equipment from initial procurement to the final disposition and fulfill material requirements for volume, cost, and scheduling business operations. Uses material requirement plans to ensure the required flow of materials is maintained. Being a Materials Management Supervisor coordinates procurement, warehouse, and distribution operations and staffing to enable workflows crucial to the flow of materials. Troubleshoots and resolves operational roadblocks. Additionally, Materials Management Supervisor may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Materials Management Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Materials Management Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. The Shipping Supervisor role is based in Nazareth, PA and reports directly to the Sr. Shipping Supervisor. This is a 3rd shift, 10pm-6am position.
What you’ll get to do
- Supervise all activities on shift related to loading, shipping and receiving of bulk cement and raw materials
- Optimize truck staging and avoid congestion during peak loading hours
- Support Production Supervisor on shift
- Develop SOPs and training plans for the department to eliminate inefficiencies and improve productivity
- Ensure that shipping department equipment is properly maintained and operational
- Support senior supervisor with cycle counting, equipment inspections, etc.
Essential Experience and Skills
- At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing company’s shipping department
- Good supervisory, leadership, interpersonal, and motivational skills
- Understanding of cement materials and process control systems
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
Preferred Experience and Skills
- Experience with Portland cement, coal, pet coke, engineered fuels, biomass and tire derived fuel chips
- Experience with Total Quality programs
- SAP
- Union experience
Work Environment
Role operates in a manufacturing environment with moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, elevated noise levels, and dusty conditions.
