Materials Management Supervisor supervises daily operations and planning to optimize the flow of raw materials, supplies, and equipment from initial procurement to the final disposition and fulfill material requirements for volume, cost, and scheduling business operations. Uses material requirement plans to ensure the required flow of materials is maintained. Being a Materials Management Supervisor coordinates procurement, warehouse, and distribution operations and staffing to enable workflows crucial to the flow of materials. Troubleshoots and resolves operational roadblocks. Additionally, Materials Management Supervisor may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Materials Management Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Materials Management Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Supervises team responsible for project materials support for Power Delivery. Coordinates execution of project initiatives to include construction, expansion and refurbishment of substation facilities and transmission lines. Pursues the business unit objectives of project execution through material logistics, material delivery, material allocation and assignment and oversight of Regional Storage Yards. Oversees project material investment and material planning. Acts as liaison between Project Management, Engineering and Supply Chain in support of material management.
Provides direction, tools and oversight for efficient and effective analysis of material requirements. Coordinates with Supply Chain Management to utilize demand forecasts, material usage patterns and other data and methods to optimize the materials management functions for project materials.
Serve as lead customer for third party managed storage yard operations and free issue material locations. Works closely with internal stakeholders to include Supply Chain, Transportation, Project Management, Engineering, Scheduling and Cost Controls.
Identifies areas for process improvement. Implements new policies and procedures to eliminate non-value added efforts. Develops strategic direction, including measurement and tracking and makes tactical assignments to achieve department goals.
