Materials Management Supervisor jobs in Sarasota, FL
Materials Management Supervisor supervises daily operations and planning to optimize the flow of raw materials, supplies, and equipment from initial procurement to the final disposition and fulfill material requirements for volume, cost, and scheduling business operations. Uses material requirement plans to ensure the required flow of materials is maintained. Being a Materials Management Supervisor coordinates procurement, warehouse, and distribution operations and staffing to enable workflows crucial to the flow of materials. Troubleshoots and resolves operational roadblocks. Additionally, Materials Management Supervisor may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Materials Management Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Materials Management Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Responsibilities:
- Assist with the plant preventive maintenance program for mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Function as shift mechanic to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
- Perform basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs.
- Train plant personnel to assist in basic maintenance and PMs.
- Assist with spare parts inventory – determine and manage stocking levels.
- Order parts as needed from local vendors and catalogues.
- Clean and change pneumatic valves on optical sorting machines.
- Change belts and idler pulleys on trough-style conveyors.
- Weld and fabricate, patch holes in steel chutes and transitions.
- Assist with the development and implementation of plant production activities and schedules.
- Hold morning meetings with teams to understand trends and resolve production issues.
- Champion Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
Required Skills
- Advanced mechanical maintenance skills
- 480vAC/3/60 electrical troubleshooting
- Strong welding and fabrication skills
- Basic computer skills
- PLC experience, a plus
- Experience with mechanical conveyors
- Rigging of motors, conveyor pulleys, and other heavy components
- Problem solving
- Lean Manufacturing experience, a plus
- Glass processing knowledge, a plus
