Materials Manager manages the raw material planning processes to ensure an organization operates efficiently. Ensures raw materials are available to meet designated production schedules. Being a Materials Manager utilizes MRP system to manage material planning from purchasing, processing, warehousing, and production. Develops forecasts for raw material needs by considering purchases, production rates, and maintenance schedules. Additionally, Materials Manager coordinates with stakeholders in purchasing and inventory control when adjustments are needed and troubleshoots complex issues as necessary. Maintains supplier relationships and may negotiate lead times. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Materials Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Materials Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     We are currently seeking a Materials Manager to provide support to Meteor Sealing Systems, LLC manufacturing team. The Materials Manager will oversee all functions related to the direction and control of materials management. This includes storage, shipping & receiving, and inventory control.
    Essential Job Functions and Basic Duties:
    • Performs functions to direct and control materials management, including storage, shipping & receiving, and inventory control.
    • Oversee the scheduling activities for production and all areas within the plant.
    • Oversee the shipping and receiving docks and all related activities.
    • Responsible for customer service, material planning, production planning/scheduling, as well as internal and external material flow.
    • Oversee and direct container management and the internal and external storage warehouse.
    • Oversee and monitor cycle counts, audits, and inventory adjustments.
    • Work with sales to develop short- and long-range forecasts, including customer recovery plans when required.
    • Oversee purchasing activities to ensure on-time delivery at the best possible rates and quality.
    • Train and mentor staff members to improve the materials management functions.
    • Work with departments to improve the material flow through implementation of basic lean tools.
    • Ensure that customer schedules are properly planned and communicated through proper scheduling of the production cells, purchasing of raw compounds and inventory systems control.
    Preferred Education and Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field. Experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
    • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
    • Automotive industry experience is required.
    • 5 years of logistics and material planning experience.

    • Experience with Material Flow within a factory
    • Materials and purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Familiarity of process flow as it relates to lean manufacturing.

    • Effective verbal, non-verbal, negotiation, and written communication skills are required.
    • Ability to sustain a high degree of professionalism while interacting with internal and external customers is required.
    • Effective attention to detail, problem solving, analytical, and organizational skills are required.
