Materials Manager manages the raw material planning processes to ensure an organization operates efficiently. Ensures raw materials are available to meet designated production schedules. Being a Materials Manager utilizes MRP system to manage material planning from purchasing, processing, warehousing, and production. Develops forecasts for raw material needs by considering purchases, production rates, and maintenance schedules. Additionally, Materials Manager coordinates with stakeholders in purchasing and inventory control when adjustments are needed and troubleshoots complex issues as necessary. Maintains supplier relationships and may negotiate lead times. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Materials Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Materials Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.   • Job Summary:
    Directs the supply chain processes which includes planning, production scheduling and inventory control in the Yarn Plant to ensure customer orders are met on time.

    Position Responsibilities - Essential

    * Ensures steps of planning, production scheduling and shipping functions are coordinated to avoid costly delays and lost sales opportunities.

    • Develops and implements warehouse flow and storage planning.
    • Communicates needs and objectives to line leaders and key personnel to complete tasks for customer demands.
    • Orders and inventories raw materials needed to ensure customer requirements are met.
    • Coordinates receiving raw materials for the yarn plant.
    • Creating BOM for yarn plant SKUs.
    • Establishes and maintains purchasing practices and policies to ensure honest, fair, and ethical relationships with vendors.
    • Manages relationships with vendors to keep materials flowing smoothly and to ensure vendor performance expectations are communicated and met. Strategically manage vendor negotiations to reduce cost, minimize inventory and extend payment terms.
    • Explores sources of new materials, supplies, and process excellence to achieve the best possibly quality, reliability, pricing, continuity, and delivery. Keep abreast of materials and material pricing trends that affect company products.
    • Communication with customers on open orders.
    • Conduct Monthly inventory cycle counts on raw materials.
    • Conduct Quarterly inventory cycle counts for finished goods.
    • Continuously looks for opportunities for cost reduction, process improvement and efficiency.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Position Responsibilities-Non Essential/Other

    Suppliers – inventory cost, pricing of purchased materials, inventory levels. Waste – reduce waste costs with proper production scheduling.

    • Production – reporting of production numbers for each production section.
    • Completed post-secondary education (associate or bachelor’s degree)
    • A minimum of 5 years of materials management experience in a manufacturing setting handling similar responsibility, with a focus on planning and scheduling.
    • Great Team Player – sees internal operations as customers, responsive and flexible in meeting changes to shipping schedule and inventory management requirements. Works closely and collaboratively with other leaders.
    • Attentive to detail – monitors quality closely, ensures employees perform visual inspections of all finished products, ensures accuracy of order quantities, inventory levels and delivery requirements.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
