Materials Manager manages the raw material planning processes to ensure an organization operates efficiently. Ensures raw materials are available to meet designated production schedules. Being a Materials Manager utilizes MRP system to manage material planning from purchasing, processing, warehousing, and production. Develops forecasts for raw material needs by considering purchases, production rates, and maintenance schedules. Additionally, Materials Manager coordinates with stakeholders in purchasing and inventory control when adjustments are needed and troubleshoots complex issues as necessary. Maintains supplier relationships and may negotiate lead times. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Materials Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Materials Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Job Description Summary:

    The Materials Manager will oversee the planning, procurement, storage, control, and distribution of materials and products according to company needs and customer requirements.

    Knowledge/Skills:

    – Excellent interpersonal skills and the proven ability to work well with all levels of management and staff.
    – Proficient with inventory reporting systems.
    – Proficient with Microsoft Office and/or similar software.

    Qualifications – Education/Experience:

    – Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or related field required.

    – Five years of experience in materials control field required.

    – Ability to represent the company in a professional manner.

    – High energy, self-starter.

    – Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.

    – Interpersonal skills for effective team communication.

    Duties/Responsibilities: (Position Specific)

    – Directs production planning and scheduling based on sales forecasts.
    – Maintains optimum inventory levels to ensure on-time deliveries to meet customer requirements.
    – Maintains and ensures accuracy of inventory system.
    – Works with purchasing department to schedule delivery of materials, supplies, and equipment.
    – Responsible for continuing programs of exploration for new materials, suppliers, and processes to achieve the best possible quality, reliability, prices, continuity, and delivery.
    – Establishes procedures and supervises the annual physical inventory.
    – Supervise, evaluate, and coach staff members.
    – Interfaces with product line coordinators on the planning and forecasting of customer orders to meet shipments.
    – Maintain relationships and negotiate with suppliers.
    – Oversee purchase of supplies and materials according to specifications
    – Ensures that the company standard practices and procedures are followed in connection with all materials department functions.
    – Manages and monitors storage of purchased parts and finished goods.
    – Performs write-offs on damaged or obsolete inventory to reflect accurate value of inventory.

    – Establishes procedures for conducting and valuing year-end physical inventory.
    – Performs other related duties as assigned.
