Maternity Services Director is responsible for the maternity unit and all sub-unit operations and staffing. Coordinates activities related to labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum, and the baby nursery. Being a Maternity Services Director manages the departments operating budget and measures performance using standards established by the hospital. May direct community outreach programs to deliver women's health information and education. Additionally, Maternity Services Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. Requires registered nurse (RN). The Maternity Services Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Position Summary:
Minimum Education
Graduate from a School of Nursing / College Education Program. BSN or advanced education preferred.
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Basic Life Support (BLS) to be obtained within 30 days
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) to be obtained within 6 months Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) to be obtained within 6 months
Licenses:
Required Licenses[West Virginia, United States] Other
Current licensure by the WV State Board of Nursing.
Minimum Work Experience
Five years of nursing experience to include a minimum of one year nursing management experience.
