Maternity Services Director is responsible for the maternity unit and all sub-unit operations and staffing. Coordinates activities related to labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum, and the baby nursery. Being a Maternity Services Director manages the departments operating budget and measures performance using standards established by the hospital. May direct community outreach programs to deliver women's health information and education. Additionally, Maternity Services Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. Requires registered nurse (RN). The Maternity Services Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Our community health center began as a modest sized medical clinic in Pasco, Washington in 1981. The clinic was founded by a small group of women in the Pasco community who saw the need to serve low income community members who could not afford to pay for Healthcare. 

    Tri-Cities Community Health has grown into a comprehensive non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) where we have evolved into a network of community health centers that continue with the foundation TCCH was built on and serve an even more diverse population in the Tri-Cities and surrounding areas. 


    Description:

    Under the general direction of the Director of Support Services and in collaboration with physicians, Registered Dietitian, and nurses, evaluates and implements treatment regime for Medicaid eligible maternity, post-delivery, and infant case management patient population. 


    Maternity Support Services (MSS) behavioral health is focused on promoting healthy birth outcomes throughout pregnancy and the postpartum period for both mother and infant. The role is to provide brief, culturally relevant counseling interventions, education and case management for First Step clients based on identified needs and in keeping with the identified core services through screening, assessment, and documentation. The Behavioral Health Specialist (BHS) also serves as a consultant to the MSS team regarding the psychosocial needs of pregnant women and their families and the provision of social services. This individual provides expertise on psychosocial issues, mental health and strategies on facilitating client change. The BHS participates in care coordination activities with other MSS team members and community providers.


    Essential Functions:

         

    1. Takes initial history, prepares psychosocial evaluation and care plans, including management of risk.

     

    2. Responsible for facilitating the referral/intake process.

     

    3. Provides   services to specific patient population.


    4. Is knowledgeable of and utilizes appropriate community resources.

     

    5. During each client visit, the plan of care is reassessed to meet client and   family/caregivers needs and ensure quality of care, as evidenced by   documentation in the clinical record.

     

    6. Provides assistance to schedulers to ensure that all support service providers’ visits   are scheduled appropriately.

     

    7. Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety,   department/service safety, and specific job-related hazards.


    8. Follows the Organization’s exposure control plans for blood borne and airborne pathogens.

     

    Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to   ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.


    Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team intra- and interdepartmentally to facilitate the department’s/unit’s ability to meet its goals and objectives.


    Ability to carry out all other duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    Must be currently credentialed or licensed in the State of Washington by the DOH Chapters 246809, 246810, and 246924 WAC as one of the following:

    • Licensed mental health counselor
    • Licensed independent clinical social worker
    • Licensed social workder
    • Licensed marriage and family therapist
    • Licensed psychologist
    • Associate mental health counselor
    • Associate independent clinical social worker
    • Associate social worder
    • Associate marriage and family therapist
    • Certified counselor
    • Certified chemical dependency professional
    • Valid drivers Washington State drivers license and proof of insurance
