Job Summary:
This position is responsible the maintenance and management of the iconic Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter Clocktower.
Responsibilities:
- Implementation of the bi-annual time change procedure to adhere to Eastern Time standards.
- Must be able to read analog time clock faces.
- Maintain Tower cleanliness standards including but not limited to:
- Removal and preventative procedures of vermin and flight based animals.
- Mildew control
- Routine maintenance such as painting, light fixtures, clock face cleaning, etc.
- Must be forklift certified.
- Must be able to lift 35 lbs.
- The ideal candidate does not suffer from acrophobia (fear of heights)
- Has a deep understanding of all time keeping methods including Sundial, Mayan, Hourglass, Zodiac (astrological), and Cuckoo.
- Must have a love of the Georgia National Fair
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to perform successfully with minimal instructions and supervision.
- Ability to safely operate a variety of heavy machinery.
- Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of time mechanics.
- Knowledge of and ability to abide by all policies and procedures of the GNFA.
- Must have 3-5 years’ experience in the time-keeping industry or similar experience
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Some work may involve percentages, ratios, and other more complex mathematical computations.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Technical skills: Basic computer literacy and understanding of lighthouse mechanisms
- Communication skills: Written and oral communication
- Organizational skills: Ability to prioritize duties, conduct tours, and respond to inquiries
- Autonomy: Ability to work independently or with a small group of people
- Manual labor: Ability to perform manual labor
- Navigation skills: Ability to read maps and help boats
- Search and rescue skills: Ability to help others in distress
- Fitness: High level of fitness
- Eyesight: Exceptional eyesight
