Production Floor Manager
A Production Floor Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations on the production floor of the plant. They supervise employees, receive order requests and increase or slow production based on inventory needs. A Production Floor Managers job is to establish production goals, safety standards and production processes that maximize production activities. They work closely with upper management and plant employees to relay information about changing corporate needs or employee performance reports. They may also be responsible for diagnosing equipment problems, making repairs or ordering new equipment as needed.
On a typical day, a Production Floor Manager starts by reviewing the employee schedule for the day. They hold a meeting before production begins to remind employees of their responsibilities, respective quotas and daily safety procedures.
Between their administrative duties, Production Floor Managers supervise employee workstations, investigate potential equipment defects and make sure that all employees follow the plant’s safety procedures and protocols. For instant an employee gets hurt, they follow the protocols during that time and fills out injury reports after so, which in return follows up with higher management to go through steps of the accident and redefines a new procedure for no future incidents.
Production Floor Manager will work closely with upper management and plant employees to relay information about changing corporate needs, employee performance reports and reporting damages or replacements that need to be addressed on the production floor.
