Mechanical Designer jobs in Harlingen, TX

Mechanical Designer designs and creates layouts and documentation for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other mechanical building systems that meet project and technical specifications. Uses computer-aided design (CAD) and other specialized software tools to generate detailed layout plans, schematics, and drawings for mechanical systems. Being a Mechanical Designer maintains accurate and complete change and version control on all design files, documents, and drawings. Incorporates best practices to address design space constraints and ensure compliance with industry standards, safety requirements, and building codes. Additionally, Mechanical Designer collaborates with engineers and other project members. May conduct or participate in site visits to inspect installations or troubleshoot problems. May require an associate degree in mechanical design, drafting or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Mechanical Designer works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.     REPORTS TO: Chief Technical Advisor 

    Job Summary: Prepares detailed drawings and pattern designs using CAD tools.  

    Job Duties:  

    Coordinates with HVAC Operations team members. 

    Organizes and schedules work to accomplish project goals while meeting project budgets and deadlines. 

    Maintains HVAC standards and drawing database. 

    Designs frameworks for a project and creates detailed design documentations.  

    Ensures drawings meet product design goals.  

    Suggests improvement to the product, based on initial design.  

    Aids in the selection of materials for the products.  

     
    Experience and Education:  


    Experience with HVAC fabrication, including duct/pipe spooling. 

    Experience with HVAC 3D. 

    Performs work under general supervision.  

    Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.  

    Possesses solid working knowledge of subject matter.  

    May provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group.  

    Typically requires accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program and 2 to 4 years of experience.  

     Reports to: Typically reports to a department head or manager.  

     Competencies:  

     Technical expertise.  

    Ability to build collaborative relationships.  

    Detail oriented.  

    Ability to meet deadlines.  

    Leadership skills.
