Fire Sprinkler and Plumbing Designer

Job Requirements:

Protech is looking for and willing to train the right candidate who is interested in a career in fire protection and plumbing engineering and design. Reporting to the Vice President of Design, the Fire Sprinkler and Plumbing Designer is responsible for managing the day-to-day requirements for the completion of project designs. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Prepare NFPA code-compliant drawings using AutoCAD, HydraCAD, 3D Naviswork and Revit for commercial, industrial and residential buildings.
• Read and interpret architect drawings and specifications, blueprints, and construction documents.
• Prepare hydraulic calculations for piping and other components.
• Prepare submittals.
• Coordinate with the Estimating Department to review bid proposals.
• Participate in field surveys to verify accuracy of completed design.
• Attend project coordination meetings.
• Participate in the start-up and close-out processes.
• Maintain proper documentation for work performed.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures.
• Must be detail oriented and organized.
• Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must be able to meet deadlines and scheduling requirements.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of a two-year degree in Computer Aided Drafting and Design.
• Interest in a career in fire protection and plumbing engineering and design.
• Willingness to learn NFPA 13 and local Authorities Having Jurisdiction requirements.
• Willingness to obtain NICET Level 2 or 3 certification.
• Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
• Strong work ethic.
