Mechanical Designer designs and creates layouts and documentation for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other mechanical building systems that meet project and technical specifications. Uses computer-aided design (CAD) and other specialized software tools to generate detailed layout plans, schematics, and drawings for mechanical systems. Being a Mechanical Designer maintains accurate and complete change and version control on all design files, documents, and drawings. Incorporates best practices to address design space constraints and ensure compliance with industry standards, safety requirements, and building codes. Additionally, Mechanical Designer collaborates with engineers and other project members. May conduct or participate in site visits to inspect installations or troubleshoot problems. May require an associate degree in mechanical design, drafting or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Mechanical Designer works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.     We are seeking a skilled Plumbing and Mechanical Engineering Designer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the design and development of plumbing and mechanical systems for a variety of projects, such as commercial buildings, residential complexes, and industrial facilities.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • System Design: Collaborate with engineers and architects to create efficient and code-compliant plumbing and mechanical systems, including HVAC, water supply, drainage, and fire protection.
    • Blueprint Creation: Develop detailed design plans, schematics, and construction drawings, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and adherence to project specifications.
    • Code Compliance: Stay up-to-date with local and national building codes and regulations, ensuring that all designs meet the necessary standards and requirements.
    • Material Selection: Choose appropriate materials and equipment for plumbing and mechanical systems, considering factors such as cost, efficiency, and sustainability.
    • System Optimization: Utilize engineering principles and computer-aided design (CAD) software to optimize system layouts for maximum performance and energy efficiency.
    • Project Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and other team members to ensure seamless project execution, addressing any design-related issues or modifications as they arise.
    • Quality Assurance: Perform thorough quality checks and reviews of design work to eliminate errors and discrepancies in the final plans.
    • Documentation: Maintain accurate records, documentation, and change orders throughout the design and construction process.
    • Continuous Learning: Keep abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in plumbing and mechanical engineering to enhance your skills and knowledge.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
    • Professional licensure as a Mechanical Engineer or Plumbing Designer, where applicable.
    • Proficiency in CAD software and design tools.
    • Strong knowledge of plumbing and mechanical systems, codes, and regulations.
    • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
