Mechanical Designer designs and creates layouts and documentation for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other mechanical building systems that meet project and technical specifications. Uses computer-aided design (CAD) and other specialized software tools to generate detailed layout plans, schematics, and drawings for mechanical systems. Being a Mechanical Designer maintains accurate and complete change and version control on all design files, documents, and drawings. Incorporates best practices to address design space constraints and ensure compliance with industry standards, safety requirements, and building codes. Additionally, Mechanical Designer collaborates with engineers and other project members. May conduct or participate in site visits to inspect installations or troubleshoot problems. May require an associate degree in mechanical design, drafting or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Mechanical Specialist CL3 maintains, repairs, and improves the physical plant of the Darling Marine Center, including buildings, support systems, safety systems, seawater pumping systems, storm response, and grounds. Some of the duties & responsibilities include performing work requests for electrical, plumbing, mechanical, construction and related operations. Completes preventative maintenance, building, and safety inspections as needed. Maintains university vehicles, roads, paths/walkways, and porches/steps. Assists with seasonal grounds work and snow removal. Assists with hazardous waste storage. Occasionally responds to alarms or repair calls or checks on the facility after hours or on weekends as needed. Serves as the backup to the Facilities Manager. The position will be located at the Darling Marine Center in Walpole, Maine. Full-time, 40 hours per week, 5 days a week. Finalist will have an option for work hours of Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Occasionally responds to alarms or repair calls or checks on the facility after hours or on weekends as needed.? Starting pay for this position is $23.92.
