Mechanical Designer designs and creates layouts and documentation for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other mechanical building systems that meet project and technical specifications. Uses computer-aided design (CAD) and other specialized software tools to generate detailed layout plans, schematics, and drawings for mechanical systems. Being a Mechanical Designer maintains accurate and complete change and version control on all design files, documents, and drawings. Incorporates best practices to address design space constraints and ensure compliance with industry standards, safety requirements, and building codes. Additionally, Mechanical Designer collaborates with engineers and other project members. May conduct or participate in site visits to inspect installations or troubleshoot problems. May require an associate degree in mechanical design, drafting or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Mechanical Designer works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. The Mechanical Designer/ Drafter will collaborate with the Engineering Department to design new product builds and support the shop with engineering needs using SolidWorks.
Responsibilities and Duties
Minimum Qualifications
Education level: High School or Equivalent
Experience: 1 Years of product development experience in a manufacturing or fabrication setting.
Hard Skills:
-Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor) for 3D modeling and engineering drawings.
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office
-Familiar with SharePoint or other EDMS
Preferred Qualifications
Education Level: Associate Degree in Drafting, CAD Design, SolidWorks, and/or other engineering design programs of study or related field.
Experience: 2 years product development experience in a manufacturing or fabrication setting.
