Mechanical Designer designs and creates layouts and documentation for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other mechanical building systems that meet project and technical specifications. Uses computer-aided design (CAD) and other specialized software tools to generate detailed layout plans, schematics, and drawings for mechanical systems. Being a Mechanical Designer maintains accurate and complete change and version control on all design files, documents, and drawings. Incorporates best practices to address design space constraints and ensure compliance with industry standards, safety requirements, and building codes. Additionally, Mechanical Designer collaborates with engineers and other project members. May conduct or participate in site visits to inspect installations or troubleshoot problems. May require an associate degree in mechanical design, drafting or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Mechanical Designer works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Description:
Create 3D drawings using Solidworks.
Experience in a machine shop environment working with machined parts.
Blueprint reading and interpretation.
Maintain design equipment and software.
Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Assist the design team in development of custom machines.
Identify problems and implement solutions for production support.
Ensure client satisfaction with design of machine and project execution
Team player providing support to the manufacturing floor and production
Aptitude to learn and thrive in a fast paced environment
Performs other related duties as assigned to support the organization.
Skills:
gd&t, machine design, blueprint reading, bill of material, SolidWorks, actuator, tolerancing, erp system
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Proficiency with SolidWorks software is a must.
Experience with Bill of Materials
ERP system knowledge
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Drafting/Design or Mechanical Engineering.
Two plus years related experience.
