Overview

Axient is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to perform engineering drafting and assistance support functions for the Central Inertial and GPS Test Facility (CIGTF), the world premier guidance and navigation test facility.  The CIGTF tests and evaluates state-of-the-art weapon systems, provides quality integration and mission support, and serves as responsible stewards of our resources to deliver war-winning capabilities.  This is a temporary position (anticipated duration of 2 to 6 months) and is located onsite at Holloman AFB, NM.

Responsibilities

Typical duties include, but are not limited to:

• Using NX Software and providing 3D modeling, drafting, production, and review of drawing packages, assembly drawings, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) standards.
• Familiarity with plotters and scanners to release drawing packages as well as enter information into a digital database.
• Conducting mechanical analysis including finite element analysis, stress/strain analysis etc. to evaluate suitability of proposed mechanical integrations for aerial and ground-based platforms.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or other relevant engineering discipline. Experience may be substituted for education with customer approval.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Customer interaction and presentation abilities required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while being able to prioritize work to balance multiple projects and deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret security clearance.  US Citizenship required (for meeting DoD clearance and access eligibility requirements).
• Willingness to travel as required up to 10%.
