Summary:
The person in this position will work on project teams involved in mechanical engineering and related technical assignments. Project assignments may include collecting field information, providing on-site construction assistance, completing engineering calculations and analyses, selecting equipment and components, preparing design drawings and specifications, writing technical reports, preparing sketches for system arrangement, and developing details of designs. All applications must include transcripts.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ongoing enrollment in a mechanical engineering degree program
2 years in progress toward an engineering degree
Familiarity with Microsoft Windows OS and Microsoft Office software
Conscientiousness concerning the accuracy, appropriateness, and timeliness of results
Thorough, organized, and detailed approach
Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members, and clients
A flexible working style and the ability to work independently and with teams of specialists to meet client and project needs
Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
Preferred Qualifications:
GPA of at least 3.2/4.0
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Solidworks, Mathcad, and Microsoft Excel
Completion of at least one semester of upper division (junior/senior level) engineering coursework
This position requires presence in a Barr office, but a hybrid work arrangement may be considered throughout the duration of the internship.
NOTE: Some work locations will feature the rough terrain typical of construction sites and industrial facilities. The role may occasionally require lifting or moving field testing equipment. Safety training will be provided prior to working on these sites. Applicants may be asked to participate in a drug screening program at the request of specific clients.
