Mechanical Engineering Supervisor oversees the designing of engines, tools, and other mechanical equipment and industrial processes. Also responsible for supervising the production, operation, repair and maintenance of equipment. Being a Mechanical Engineering Supervisor may work with other engineering departments to aid in the development and usage of robotics to improve productivity. A level I supervisor is considered a working supervisor with little authority for personnel actions. Additionally, Mechanical Engineering Supervisor may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members.     Osborn Engineering is seeking a Department Manager with 10 years of experience to manage the Mechanical Engineering group. This position will report to the Director of Mechanical Engineering. The ideal candidate would have team and client management experience in a consulting engineering environment.

     

     

    Position Responsibilities:

     

    • Work with Project Managers throughout the company to provide appropriate resources to successfully execute projects.
    • Establish discipline specific work plans and estimates to complete for department staff assigned projects
    • Oversee the production of work product consistent with client requirements and Osborn standards.
    • Supervise efficient execution of projects and staff to meet the performance metrics and goals of the department.
    • Manage expectations and communications with clients for projects providing engineering and technical support.
    • Execute Osborn’s QA/QC process for the mechanical discipline on projects.
    • Maintain backlogs and manpower forecasts to ensure proper staffing levels and department utilization.
    • Perform staff resource management and annual reviews including Timesheet and Expense report approvals.
    • Assist Human Resources on recruitment and training efforts.
    • Conduct business development activities, participating in various trade organizations, and preparing or assisting with presentations.

     

    Job Requirements/Qualifications:

     

    • 10 Years’ Experience in Mechanical Design in Consulting Engineering.
    • Ability to work and manage several project teams concurrently.
    • Ability to promote department and staff career growth.
    • Knowledge of mechanical design and load calculation software such as Revit, IES VE, HAP, TRACE.
    • Knowledge of local and national building codes and design practices.
    • Knowledge of standard construction practices and the ability to work with contractors to address construction issues.
    • Experience in designing Healthcare, Sports, Commercial, Public Sector, Industrial, Education, and/or Institutional projects.
    • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering preferred.
    • PE License Preferred.
