Mechanical Engineering Supervisor oversees the designing of engines, tools, and other mechanical equipment and industrial processes. Also responsible for supervising the production, operation, repair and maintenance of equipment. Being a Mechanical Engineering Supervisor may work with other engineering departments to aid in the development and usage of robotics to improve productivity. A level I supervisor is considered a working supervisor with little authority for personnel actions. Additionally, Mechanical Engineering Supervisor may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members.     DUTIES:

    Job responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses/labs within the Mechanical Engineering Department. The person in this position will be expected to teach a wide range of engineering courses, including advanced mechanics, machine design, computer aided design, and heat transfer. The person may be required to teach other engineering courses and support laboratory operations depending on the needs of the department.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • MS degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
    • BS degree in an engineering field or Engineering Science
    • Excellent English written and oral communication skills
    • Demonstrated commitment to education
    • Ten years or more of industrial experience
    • Professional Engineering license in the United States

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • A PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline
    • Previous collegiate teaching experience
    • Experience mentoring senior design students
    • Experience with ABET accreditation
