BAE Systems is seeking a diligent and proactive individual with a proven high quality work ethic to fill an entry-level position (Engineer I – Mechanical) to support the readiness and sustainment of the United States Air Force (USAF) Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Weapon System. The individual must hold a valid Mechanical Engineering degree from an ABET accredited university.
The overarching role of the Engineer I – Mechanical is to work closely with the customer, the United States Air Force (USAF), to apply engineering principles and best practices to optimize Weapon System operational service and performance.
The candidate selected for this entry-level Mechanical Engineering position will:
Work with a multi-discipline systems engineering team, write specifications, prepare and review mechanical drawings, and manage work to meet program schedules.
Apply mechanical engineering principles and analytical methods and techniques to:
Identify or evaluate needed or proposed modifications and/or replacements for Weapon System components;
Prepare and be able to defend technical recommendations concerning any needed modifications and/or replacements.
Be able to create and interpret Computer Aided Design (CAD) models.
Possess familiarity in Finite Element modeling and simulation.
Possess familiarly with a comprehensive design process including conceptual development, physical design, support to procurement, engineering test, failure root-cause, and integration and support of product qualification.
Possess an understanding in the application of physical laws and principles of heat transfer, mechanics of solids and fluids, material science, kinematics, design of machinery, mechanical vibrations, and statistical based process improvement.
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Consider safety in all aspects of work and engineering efforts.
