Mechanical Engineering Technician assists mechanical engineers in the planning, testing, and maintenance of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery. Gathers data and project requirements to help prepare proposals, cost estimates, and develop specifications for new parts or prototypes. Being a Mechanical Engineering Technician conducts clerical research tasks and summarizes and reports findings to support research and development of new technologies or processes. Installs, calibrates, tests, and repairs mechanical components and engineering solutions. Additionally, Mechanical Engineering Technician fabricates, modifies, and assembles new or existing mechanical components. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Mechanical Engineering Technician works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Supports the Engineering team in the maintenance of documentation, records, and data within the department and company. Supports Quality Management System document and records control, internal audit, and corrective action processes. Coordinates and maintains document control of New Product Development and APQP processes.
1. Maintain electronic and hardcopy documentation of all engineering records within business system and Sharepoint. Includes but not limited to die drawings, production blueprints, ECR records, external documentation, standards, and customer specifications.2. Review and analyze internal system documentation to ensure appropriate standard, format, and processes are met. Ensure conflicting documentation is not produced in the system. 3. Compile and maintain a documented system for QMS policies, procedures, and records. 4. Review QMS procedures, work instructions, standard operating procedures, and documentation with areas and make updates and corrections as needed. 5. Work with associates on the development of QMS procedures, work instruction, and documentation.6. Retrieve and service requests for information regarding our QMS systems and internal documentation.7. Maintain, monitor, and audit schedule and records for abnormalities. 8. Create and modify Syteline documents, visual aids and print mark-ups, QCS test entries, item master information, SRO’s, run charts, and PPAP documentation.9. Enter, review, and assist associates in the completion of corrective actions.10. Compile, evaluate, and prepare data for analysis, graphs, and distribution.11. Provide all necessary support to meet company safety goals and maintain a safe working environment. 12. Process ECN’s to update, change, or modify process or tooling documentation. Verify that ECN’s are coordinated with production. 13. Collaborate with fellow team members or other departments to successfully execute production processes. 14. Other duties as required.
Education and/or Experience and Certifications and Licenses
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two to three years in admin support role.
