    Hoodz Commercial Mechanical Services, a fully licensed mechanical contractor and a division of Hoodz of Nashville (the largest kitchen exhaust and hood cleaning company in the MidSouth) is looking to add team members to our rapidly growing mechanical division. Hoodz Mechanical primarily focuses on installing kitchen exhaust and HVAC systems for restaurants and commercial kitchens. Hoodz Mechanical is poised for massive growth in Tennessee. Across our company, we have over 50 employees servicing 2,000 locations around our multi-state territory. We have experienced significant growth over the past several years (25-30% year over year), and are in need of someone to help perform mechanical services in the region.

    The Mechanical Technician will be responsible for assisting our team in installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical systems and equipment in accordance with safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have strong technical aptitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

    Main responsibilities:

    • Install, maintain, and repair mechanical systems and equipment, including HVAC and kitchen ventilation systems, plumbing fixtures, pumps, compressors, and hydraulic systems.
    • Perform preventative maintenance tasks to ensure the efficient operation of mechanical systems and equipment.
    • Diagnose mechanical issues and troubleshoot equipment failures to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
    • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to determine equipment specifications and installation requirements.
    • Operate hand and power tools, as well as diagnostic equipment, to perform repairs and maintenance tasks.
    • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to minimize risks and ensure a safe working environment.
    • Collaborate with other technicians, engineers, and contractors to complete projects and resolve technical issues.
    • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inspections, and repair work.
    • Provide technical support and guidance to junior technicians and apprentices as needed.
    • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in mechanical systems and equipment.
    • Communicate with end users before, during, and after repairs.

    Qualifications and Required Skills:

    • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in mechanical systems preferred.
    • Proven experience as a Mechanical Technician or similar role in a related field.
    • Ability to work on rooftops or lifts.
    • Strong mechanical aptitude and technical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems and equipment.
    • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
    • Knowledge of HVAC and kitchen ventilation systems, plumbing, hydraulics, and mechanical components. Hydronic experience is a plus.
    • Familiarity with hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and precision measuring instruments.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
    • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual tasks and lift heavy objects.
    • Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to emergency calls as needed.
    • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and ability to pass background and drug tests.

    Other Details:

    This person will be responsible for helping grow Hoodz Mechanical through performing service calls, assisting with installations and bringing systems up to mechanical and fire codes. Certifications are not required however can be beneficial. This person will be a problem solver, identifying and solving issues with the full support of our Mechanical and Administrative team. The compensation and benefits package for this individual will range according to experience and background, however, we anticipate this role to be in the $28-32/hour range, plus bonuses, insurance and retirement benefits (we also expect that number to grow as we grow - having a background in the mechanical trades is a plus!). A company vehicle will also be provided, plus gas. This position may require work during a 3rd shift position (8PM - 4AM, generally) as this segment of our business grows, but will primarily have regular business hours.

    Job Type: Full-time. Required availability: 4AM-4PM Monday through Friday afternoon (does not reflect actual scheduled hours, only range). Employees average 40 hours/week. Overtime opportunities are available, but never mandatory.

    Compensation: Starts $28-32/hour based on individual. Compensation increases as you progress in the company and acquire experience and additional certifications.
